Glory Through Wisdom

Speaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran

Gist: The Word of God teaches us to live as His children in this world, and our life is filled with His glory. When we are filled with His glory, people who look at us will be convicted of their sins. They will appreciate us.

"A man's wisdom makes his face shine, and the sternness of his face is changed." (Ecclesiastes 8:1)

In the Bible, we read how the face of Jesus shone. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. People were astonished to hear the words that He spoke when he was a lad of twelve years old. The reason was that He increased in wisdom (Luke 2:47,52).

He gave His godly wisdom and glory to those who followed Him. Let us behold the countenance of Stephen. The Bible says, "And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. And all who sat in the council looking steadfastly at him, saw his face as the face of an angel" (Acts 6:10,15).

Many years ago, a feast was arranged in a college for the first batch of outgoing students. The students were enjoying. Some of them had intoxicating drinks and they were excited and elated in their spirit. A young man who had recently joined the college, holding a glass of wine in his hand, gazed at a girl's picture hanging on the wall. He felt vividly the girl's eyes piercing him through and convicting him of his sins. Nobody around could comprehend what was going on with this young man. It was then that some students said, "This girl was a student of this college. She was the best student in all fields and she was humble. She helped the students to lead a spiritual life. She died while she was studying. We mourned much for her. We have hung her photograph in memory of her deeds and also to honour her." The young man's heart was changed in a moment and he gave up drinking.

Though she was dead, the kind of life that she had led moved his heart to repentance. In the same way, the glory of the Lord is all-powerful to drive away the darkness when it tries to descend on you. The treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Him (Colossians 2:3). It teaches us to live as His children in this world, and our life is filled with His glory. When we are filled with His glory, people who look at us will be convicted of their sins. They will appreciate us.

Prayer:

Loving Lord Jesus,

I thank and praise You for the blessings that You have showered on me. Because of sins, I lose Your grace and glory from my life often. Lord, I repent for my sins and I am coming back to You. Please forgive me. I desire to live as a child of light. Let the grace and glory in You fill my life. May Your grace and glory fill others too! Lord, fill me with Your wisdom so that I may choose and do the right thing in my life. Guide me and help me to march forward with holiness. In Jesus matchless name, I pray.

Amen.
