Everlasting God

Gist: Man's words will change. But the words of Jesus will never change. He is unchanging yesterday, today and forever. He is the truth. We can always claim His promises and receive blessings in our lives.

When Gautama Buddha was on his deathbed, he called his disciples and said, "My dear disciples, I am going to pass away from you all in a few minutes. But I will continue to live in your midst through my words and teachings that I have given you." Though he has passed away, we still remember the words that he spoke when he was alive.

Jesus Christ has said, "My words will not pass away." Every word of the Lord will prove itself true.

God is the beginning and the end. His words will never pass away. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John 1:1). That is why every word in the Holy Bible is lit with His divine presence.

When we read God's Word with faith and proclaim His promises in prayer, God says, "My dear child, this is My Word. It will never pass away, because I am eternal. I am the beginning and the end. I am the Alpha and the Omega. I am the First and the Last. Hence, My words will stay forever" (Revelation 1:11,16,17; 2 Corinthians 1:20; Acts 2:39). We cannot separate Jesus and His word. When we accept His word, it means that we receive Him. The word never changes. And God never lies.

"God is not a man, that He should lie." (Numbers 23:19)
"And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor relent. For He is not a man, that He should relent." (1 Samuel 15:29)
"Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David." (Psalm 89:35)

When we believe God's Word and pray holding on to any of His promises, Jesus will say, "Oh, My child has believed My word. I will grant him the blessing that I have promised in My Word."

Man's words will change. But the words of Jesus will never change. What is the reason for that? It is because the words spoken by Jesus are full of grace (Luke 4:22). His words are compassionate too!

Once a leper came running to Jesus and said, "If You are willing, you can make me clean." And Jesus, moved with compassion, said to him, "I am willing; be cleansed" (Mark 1:40-42). Those were words of love.

The love of Jesus never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8). His compassions fail not (Lamentations 3:22). But man's words will fail. Someone may say, "Come tomorrow and I will help you." And if you go the next day, they may deny saying, "Oh, did I say it? I do not remember having said such a thing." That is the nature of man. But you can believe the loving words of the Lord Jesus Christ. See the Lord's promise in John 14:6: "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'" He is unchanging yesterday, today and forever. He is the truth. We can always claim His promises and receive blessings in our lives.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

You are the same yesterday, today and forever. You are an Unchanging God. Your words and Your promises do not change. They are eternal and they are life giving. Father, give me the grace to keep Your commandments and be Your child, so that I can claim the promises that You have given to Your children, everyday. Help me to listen to Your words even as I pray and meditate on Your Word. Bless me according to Your promises. In Jesus' name, I pray.

Amen.
