In Times of SicknessSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: The only reason for healing the sick is the Lord's love and compassion. When you are sick, do not say that God has forsaken you. He has compassion on you. He will touch you and heal you. Today, many think that the Lord has forsaken them when they are afflicted by some sickness. But that is not the case. He Himself has borne our sicknesses. He will never forsake us.
I wish to narrate an incident that occurred on April 14, 1994. After finishing a 'Jesus Calls' crusade in America, we left for Washington. A 'Jesus Calls' Partner had arranged for an evening meeting in a church in Washington. Even though it was a weekday, the church was overflowing with people. The Lord performed mighty miracles. When the brother who arranged the meeting, introduced his wife to me, my heart broke. It was because; one day when she had gone shopping, her foot slipped and she fell. She was shocked to find her anklebone broken. She could not even get up. The people near by took her to the hospital. But that sister was more worried because she could not do anything for us who had been there. Finally, the doctors operated on her leg, made her sit on a wheel chair and advised her to go for check-up a month later. When I saw that sister, my heart was moved. I based my faith on the promise of the Lord, "Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven" (James 5:14,15). I applied the oil and I prayed. The next morning, her leg was completely healed. She began walking, having pushed the wheel chair aside. She was so happy. She immediately called me up and shared that miracle with me. Even today, she is walking well and is doing God's ministry with her husband.
Dear friend, the only reason for the healing of the sick is the Lord's love and compassion. Are you sick? Jesus loves you. If you are in a sickbed, please do not say that God has forsaken you. He has compassion on you. He will touch you and heal you. He will be with you throughout your life. He will never leave you. He will never forsake you. He will supply all your needs and make you happy. May the Lord be with you and enlighten your heart in all ways.
Prayer:
Most loving Heavenly Father,
You are the Lord who heals me. You came down in the form of a man and took upon Yourself all the sicknesses and by the blood that You shed on the cross, won a victory over all sickness and infirmities. As Your loving child, Father, You have compassion on me. Heal me of every sickness and every disorder in my body, mind and soul. Let Your name be glorified through Your miraculous healing touch. With all my faith on You, I pray in Jesus' name.
