Comfort in GriefSpeaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran Gist: Today, many families suffer in sorrow, having lost the love of their dear ones. The Lord Jesus knows the intensity of their pain very well. God's nature is to comfort all those who mourn. God's nature is to comfort all those who mourn. In Genesis 37:35, we read about a man who refused to be comforted and was determined to go to the grave in mourning. He is Jacob. He had many sons. But He loved Joseph very much. Days passed. His jealous brothers sold him to strangers. They removed his garment and dipped it in the blood of a lamb and brought the garment to their father and said that Joseph had died. On hearing this, his heart broke. He was filled with grief. He lamented, "Let this grief fill me; I will not be comforted; let me join my son in grave."
Dear friend, today, many families suffer in sorrow, having lost the love of their dear ones. Jesus knows the intensity of the pain very well. When Jesus saw Martha and Mary weeping for their dead brother Lazarus, unable to bear the grief He wept (John 11:35).
Jesus endured many sufferings on the cross. The soldiers on one side were breaking His body while the mockery of others around Him broke His heart. The blood flowing from the wounds because of the crown of thorns flowed over His eyes. Even in that agony, He was concerned about His mother and His loving disciple John. "Oh! They are suffering in sorrow. John rested on My bosom. Where will he rest now? Who will show him love in this world? Who will console My mother who bore Me? Who will look after her?" He was compassionate on them and paved a way for them. He looked at His mother, "I am giving you John to be your son". And looking at John, He said, "I give My loving mother to you to rest on her bosom. Do not be troubled!" (John 19:26,27). He built that home.
What a good Lord we have! He understands our grief. Are you worried saying, "Oh! I do not have my father! Who will conduct my marriage?" "There is no one to help me!" "Oh! poverty kills me!" "I have no hope concerning my future!" Is your home broken? Is your family quarrelling because of people who do not know the love of the Lord? Do not be troubled! The Lord Jesus builds families. He understands your grief. He who raised Lazarus from the dead and built his home will certainly build your home and life.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
You have suffered all the pain and agony that any man on earth could ever suffer. You are never unmindful of my sufferings. You know my grieves. Lord, You alone can comfort my broken heart. Send Your comfort to me now. Help me to lead a successful life and grant me peace in my heart. I give You all the glory, honour and praise.
Amen. |
