The Lord Who LeadsSpeaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran Gist: The youth today deceive themselves by thinking that life is to have fun. But we should make others lead a godly life. The Lord knows your heart. Your heart is like an open book before Him. "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye" (Psalm 32:8). Who in this world can tell us such words of compassion, except our Lord God Almighty!
We find two out of five families today, broken and shattered. One day, a couple came to us for prayer. They said, "In our twenty five years of married life, we have not had a single misunderstanding". A true Christian home is one where the husband, wife and children are in harmony with the Lord. The Lord says, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" (Psalm 46:10).
My dear friend, it is not enough if you lead an ordinary family life. You need to know Christ personally.
In a good Christian home, there was a boy who had just finished Ph.D. His parents thought of getting him married. Shortly, they had an alliance from a family where the girl too was a Ph.D. Since they felt that it was a good match, they proceeded further. When the girl's opinion was asked, she said, "Oh! what if he is a Ph.D.? He and his family will be praying all the time. I do not want such a strict and disciplined life. I like to spend my life having fun."
The youth today deceive themselves by thinking that life is to have fun. In the Bible, we read about a man called Eli, He was a priest, but his sons indulged in all kinds of evil acts (1 Samuel 2:22-25). Samuel, the prophet lived in relationship with the Lord. The Bible says, "His sons did not walk in his ways; they turned aside after dishonest gain, took bribes, and perverted justice" (1 Samuel 8:3). A life that is no way a witness! All the elders of Israel came to Samuel and said, "Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations" (1 Samuel 8:5).
How is your life today? Are you living a life that is a testimony? If not, pray that God would transform your life and set you an example before others.
The life of Abraham is a mighty witness before God and man. He, his wife Sarah, and the God-given son Isaac lived a God-fearing life. "For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him" (Genesis 18:19). So the Lord gave a witness about Abraham.
Psalm 128:1 says, " Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways." We read in that Psalm about the blessings that an obedient man would receive.
God Himself gave a witness about Abraham. Can God give a witness about you today? When David grew old, his son Solomon was crowned as King. When the time drew nigh for David's death he called Solomom and said, "As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever" (1 Chronicles 28:9).
If you are a parent, ponder whether you are keen about making your child lead a godly life. The Lord knows your heart (1 Samuel 16:7; Proverbs 17:3; 1 John 3:20). Your heart is like an open book before Him.
Once when the Psalmist committed sin, he cried out, "Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit" (Psalm 51:7,10,12).
If by chance, you have drawn yourself away from the Lord, if the sorrows of this world have made you to do that, return to the Lord today. Ask the Lord to wash you clean from every sin and sanctify you with His blood and fill you with His divine peace and joy. Meditate upon what the Lord tells you to make you walk in the path that is pleasing to Him. The Lord will then bless you, your descendants and your loved ones lead a prosperous life that is righteous.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
I commit myself in Your hands and promise to walk in Your ways. I also promise that I will lead my children, family members, and all those whom I consider my people, in paths of righteousness. Father, guide me by Your Holy Spirit to lead a clean life, washed by the blood of Your Son. Show me Your ways and set me as a good example before others for Your glory. I know You will consider my prayer because I pray in Jesus' name.
Amen. |
