My Peace I Give You

Gist: When the Lord is with you, during times of trouble, His divine peace fills your soul. He will never leave you as orphans in this world. The Lord shall protect you in the midst of crises.

Once I happened to meet the princess of a country. She requested me to pray for her. When I asked her what she wanted me to pray for, do you know what she said? "Sir, I have everything - good husband, good son and all that I need, except one thing: peace of mind. Pray that I may inherit that peace." Friend, peace cannot be found so easily in this world. But Jesus promises to give us His supreme peace. See what the Lord tells us, "Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble" (Psalm 119:165).

The peace that Jesus gives does not cause us to stumble. As said in Isaiah 26:3 : "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You". He gives us His perfect peace.

"And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:7).

When Jesus was on this earth, He encountered several problems. Read Matthew 8:24. One day, when Jesus was going on a boat with His disciples, a great tempest arose on the sea. His disciples were panic-stricken. But Jesus was sleeping in the stern. His peace was least perturbed. Read John 19:10,11. Jesus stood before Pilate for the judgement to be passed upon him, and Pilate asked, "Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You?" Jesus never got perturbed. Without the slightest hesitation, He answered, "You could have no power at all agains Me unless it had been given you from above." Only because He was filled with divine peace, He was able to give such an answer.

And today because we are the children of the Lord of lords, no evil that rises up against us shall prosper. Whether it be our place of work or anywhere else, the Lord shall protect us and give us His peace in the midst of crises. Jesus had to undergo torment even because of conspirators. Jesus was well aware that He would be betrayed by one of His own disciples, Judas (John 6:64,70). And truly enough, Judas chose to betray Jesus. He went to the high priest and said, "I will deliver Jesus to you. What are you willing to give me?" (Matthew 26:15). Jesus knew about this well beforehand. After Jesus had prayed with much agony shedding sweat of blood in the Garden of Gethsamane, Judas came up to Him with the intent of betraying Him by giving a kiss. Did Jesus lose His patience then, and rebuke him? Not at all. Instead He said, "My friend, why have you come here. You might hate me, but I do not hate you. You may consider me as your enemy. Though you may betray me, I love you as my friend."

Dear friend, the peace of God fills us in a smilar way. It does not take revenge. During times of trouble, this divine peace will keep filling your soul. He will never leave you as orphans in this world. He will grant you the peace that is in Him. Let not your heart be troubled.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

My heart yearns for love. My mind is disturbed and restless because of the various problems that I have to face everyday. Father, grant me Your divine peace. Lord Jesus, as You have promised to give me Your peace, grant it now. Help me to find rest in You every moment. Grant me the assurance that You are with me always. Grant me Your Holy Spirit and keep me safe from all evil. In the name of Christ, my Lord, I pray.

Amen.
