Jesus Christ - the Healer

Speaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran

Gist: When Jesus saw people with no peace of mind, people in hopeless condition and languishing in uncertainty, He had compassion on them. He placed His hands on the sick and healed them.

The Bible says, "But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them" (Mark9:36; Mark 6:34; Mathew 20:34). When Jesus saw those with no peace of mind, pushed to hopelessness and languishing in uncertainty, He had compassion on them. It overflowed His heart. That is why when He placed His hands on all those who came to Him, the sick among them were healed in a moment.

In Mark 1:40-45, we read about a leper who came to Jesus. In those days, if a man contracted leprosy, he was alienated by the society, and banished by his own relatives. He should live outside the town. Anyone seeing him would stone him and chase him away. A leper so driven out came to Jesus, kneeled down and implored Him, "If your are willing, You can make me clean" (Mark 1:40). Jesus did not abhor him or drive him out. He was moved with compassion for him. He put out His hand and touched him, and said to him: "I am willing, be cleansed" (Mark 1:41). Immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed. That was the compassion of Christ. Jesus felt, "As long as I am in this world, I can set My hands on My people and heal them. But after I leave this world, to whom will My children go for their healing? So, let me tread that path of pain. Let Me experience their diseases in My body. Let Me make a means for their healing." He bore all our sufferings in His body. He was crucified.

"He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses." (Mathew 8:17)
"He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)

Healing does not come from any man. Don't forget that healing comes only from the sores and stripes of Jesus Christ.

Many years ago, when we had been to minister in the city of Indore in Madhya Pradesh, a sister who had never heard of Jesus, who was deprived of her eyesight, had come in much pain to the meeting. At prayer time, with God's power, I said, "Jesus is touching everyone of you. You will receive your healing even now. He will open your eyes." That sister who believed it placed hands over her eyes and prayed in tears, "Lord, touch my eyes wih Your healing hands. Grant me my eyesight." Suddenly, two hands that were bruised and broken came towards her and touched her eyes. She received her eyesight at once. She could see everything clearly. In great joy, she came running to the dais and gave her testimony before all in great ecstasy.

Dear friend, do you cry out in pain due to sickness? Remember the pain which Jesus experienced. All for you, a crown of thorns was clamped on His head. Do you complain that you are unable to walk? Remember the nail-pierced legs of Jesus. He has experienced on the cross every bodily pain that may now be yours. Today, when you cry out in pain, He has compassion on you. He will heal you.

Prayer:

Loving Lord Jesus,

Thank you for the great love with which You bore my sicknesses and pains. You died on the cross to give me life. You have loved me with great love. I give You all the glory. I now commit my entire life into Your hands. Please accept all my infirmities and give me a new life from this moment. Heal all my sicknesses and grant me freedom from all my sins. Thank You for accepting my entire responsibility. All glory be to Your most high name.

Amen.
